In XVII century it was just an abandoned castle. Thanks to the monks it turned into flourishing cloister.
Firstly Pauline ruled here, then Dominicans took over. The building is painted in vivid colours and eye-catching ornaments. Once a structure of four wings and towers (in the corners), it’s now left just with two. Therefore its shape is strangely irregular.
I walked slowly along the outer arcades not disturbed by too many visitors. The red flowers nicely contrasted with the grey walls. Perfect place to rest and contemplate a bit.
If you plan a day in Terme Olimje, I strongly recommend a 2-hours visit in this silent corner.

Indeed, I have never seen a building painted in such shapes.

❤ Beautiful. Makes me slightly sad that I have not seen it with my own eyes when I was in Olimje once – not in Terme but at a card players' meeting in a restaurant where they have deer. No reason why I can't go the next time I'm in Slovenia though. Unless there is snow.

When in Olimje, you could also go a bit further south to the wine region. Have you been there? Beautiful vineyards on the hills’ slopes 🙂

Plenty of wine regions in Slovenia. 🙂 And then you come to Tuscany.

Do they have a church there that you could visit?
