When the coal mine Guido in Zabrze was opened at the end of XIX century shadow could only be lit up by oil lamps (like the one on the photo). Miner used hand hammers and dynamite and the ore was transported in carriages pulled by horses.
Electricity changed a lot. Coal started to be extracted by machines and then carried by belt conveyors. Electrical lamps gave much more light.
At the end of XX century Guido coal mine turned into museum. Now we – the tourists – follow the same paths as the “black gold” used to.
