This is how the Camaldolese cloister was called in XVII century.
It was designed according to convent rules by several known artists of that times. The church is not big but heavily decorated inside. Walls and ceilings are covered with white mouldings and paintings.
Behind the main altar (as in orthodox churches) there is an additional chapel. In beautifully painted wooden benches monks were contemplaiting eternity (main photo).
I visit also the underground with sarcophagus of noble men. One sentence remains in my mind as I’m leaving the hermit cloister:
” Who you are – I was / Who I am – You will be”.
