You may know the saying: “As cold as a stone”. But you would not say it about this pair of “lovers” from the main photo.
The boy is more modest, but the girl bursts with emotions. They are so vivid that you almost forget, it’s just a sculpture.
It’s Dafne escaping Apollo. Not able to free herself, she changes into a tree (you can see it on the bottom photo where her legs are already half covered with bark).
This masterpiece of Bernini is my contribution to CFFC – Hot and Cold.

Some sculpture are really full of emotions, I agree. I’m just back from the British Museum (went to visit today) and I saw a lot of amazing sculptures as well

When I stayed in London for a year (1993) I especially liked to visit the Museum of Natural History. On Thursdays the admittance was for free. I used to say hello to the dinasour in the main hall and then wander along the rooms. Since then I haven’t seen so much “art” any more 😀
