And that is a good news, as we know very well how it can end.
It’s very unlikely that communism would come back (except for Northern Korea where it still rules). But in our part of the world (east Europe) we still can find it signs and marks.
On the main photo you can see a building with the inscription: “Increase of work efficiency leads to progress and wealth”. We used to have hundreds of such “golden rules” exhibited on every factory, school or office. Some of them we even still know by heart (my favorite one is: ” Chemistry heals, feeds and builds”).
Luckily this story is over and since 1989 we’ve lived in a democratic and free world 🙂

As you say, it is unlikely. Hopefully people will remember those days and not let it back in.

Well, we who were born in Yugoslavia tend to miss those times a LOT. This capitalism is getting on my nerves so much. I truly believe socialism is the way to go. We have grown up more appreciative, less egoistic, more willing to share, and less wasteful. Of course, we didn’t have communism as such… But we did have an entire island in the Adriatic dedicated to political prisoners. :p

I believe that the good features of your character are shaped by the way you are grown up and the values you were thought. No matter the political or economical system. Democtratic solution is indeed more challenging: you get the freedom to choose. You can choose right or wrong. The “wrong” way is much easier and less demanding. So many people follow it, distoying the values.

Oh, that’s correct. The easy way is the wrong way. Thanks you for help me see it so clearly. 🙂
