Beguines wore special clothes, very similar to the monastic habits and for that reason they were mistaken with nuns.
Beginki miały specjalne stroje, bardzo podobne do klasztornych habitów, dlatego często mylono je z zakonnicami.
Big part of their lives were indeed filled with prayers. As they followed the examplar of poverty (as the objection against church’s misuses), a considerate equality existed in beguines’ societies. Each woman, regardless her economic situation, could join the community. The reacher beguines lived however usually alone in privately-owned houses while the poorer ones – together in one house.
Dużą część ich życia rzeczywiście wypełniała modlitwa. Ponieważ przyświecał im ideał ubóstwa (jako sprzeciw wobec nadużyć kościoła) , panowała wśród nich względna równość. Każda kobieta, niezależnie od sytuacji ekonomicznej, mogła wstąpić do wspólnoty. Przy czym bogatsze beginki zwykle mieszkały same w kupionym przez siebie domu, a biedniejsze – wspólnie w jednym domu.
