This year I started to experiment more with photos.
Since ever I tried as much as possible to avoid people on my pictures. Pure landscapes or architecture was the best result of my efforts. Till this year …
This year I decided to compose photos WITH people. Not only to capture the ones passing by randomly but even wait longer to size a proper person (lady dressed in vivid colour, a pair of lovers, a child on a bike).
And I found it really involving!
In your opinion – which picture is better: the main one above or the second one below?

I love the first one because there are so much to look at and It makes me curious. The worn wall, what kind of building is it really, all made of stone and then inside, more interesting, where you can only imagine what it looks like if you walk trough that vault..
The second one is also great, the people makes it more alive but in my opinion, the main picture is more exciting.
It`s fun to read how you have tried to avoid having people on your pictures. I have done the opposite for years but now I prefer to photograph more of landscape, flowers and architecture. I believe in a blend of almost everything, unless you are a true nature- or street photographer 😃

Indeed, we followed the opposite paths. Very interesting. But that’s the miracle of us, humans. Each of us is unique and if we only treat each other with respect and are open to share ideas, we can create a world full of any colour and shape 🙂

The top one focuses more on the ‘mystique’ of the place that you don’t see/notice on the bottom one.

You are the second one to say that – all in all – the photo without people is more insteresting. I will have to revise my new photographing strategy, I guess … ;D

The first one leaves the imagination open more, so it would be my choice.

It looks like I will have to go both ways: without people because it’s more challenging for the mind and with people – as I simply like it 🙂 Thanks a lot for your comment.

Funny that we have followed the same path…I always wanted photos without people…but have now changed my thinking. However, not every photo goes best with people – in this case I love the first one best. Because of the same reasons others say in their comments. It also depends on where the people are in the picture.

I guess, there are scenes that are misterious enough without people and others where lack of people make them boring. I will go then both paths from now on.
